Spring DoD Forum Convenes at CORROSION 2009
By Cynthia Greenwood
The annual spring DoD Corrosion Forum, sponsored by the team of experts who support the DoD Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office, will be held in conjunction with the NACE International CORROSION 2009, from March 22 to 26 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The NACE conference will feature at least 5,000 corrosion industry professionals and more than 350 exhibitors.
To help industry suppliers of corrosion products understand how to sell their products and technologies to the Department of Defense, two experts will conduct a workshop titled “DoD Product Introduction Workshop” on Monday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The workshop, given by Robert Herron of the Army’s Research, Development, and Engineering Command (RDE) and Steve Spadafora of NAVAIR, will demonstrate tools for matching products with military specifications using the CorrDefense online portal.
“We encourage all industry suppliers to learn about the Web-based production introduction process and pose questions about working with DoD,” said Daniel J. Dunmire, Director of the DoD Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office, who will be available to answer questions during the workshop.

During the NACE conference, the DoD Corrosion Prevention and Control Integrated Product Team (CPC IPT) will add ongoing corrosion concerns, policy developments, and project successes during the three-day meeting. Committees, known as Working Integrated Product Teams (WIPTs), will also conduct tri-annual meetings during regular sessions.
