DoD Corrosion Community Can Access Forum Briefings Online
Beginning in 2009, briefings for meetings of the DoD corrosion prevention community—known as the DoD Corrosion Forums—have been archived on the CorrDefense Web site. A full briefing for the recent Corrosion Forum XIX, held from November 5 to 6, 2008, in McLean, Virginia, has been posted.
Meetings of the DoD Corrosion Forum are held three times a year for the professional DoD-sponsored team that implements strategies, determines objectives, and develops and executes plans, procedures, and roadmaps to reduce the overall impact of corrosion on DoD weapon systems and infrastructure. (The team is known to DoD and industry corrosion experts as the Corrosion Prevention and Control Integrated Product Team or the CPC IPT.)
The mission of the CPC IPT is to provide strategic direction to reduce the impact of corrosion within DoD. This team works under the auspices of the Pentagon-based Office of Corrosion Policy and Oversight, which develops corrosion prevention and control strategies for DoD and oversees their implementation.
