Corrosion Office Issues Report on the Impact of Corrosion on Military Facilities

Experts Interpret Major Findings in the Facilities and Infrastructure Corrosion Evaluation Study

As part of the fiscal year 2012 defense budget, (National Defense Authorization Act), Congressional defense committees requested that the Department of Defense (DoD) conduct an in-depth evaluation of the impact of corrosion and material degradation on military facilities and infrastructure assets. To carry out the investigation, the DoD Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office assembled a 15-member team of experts from the DoD Corrosion Office, Army Installations and Environment, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), the Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL), and contract researchers from academe and industry.
